Scopul tău în Draftosaurus este să creezi un parc de dinozauri care să atragă cei mai mulți vizitatori. Pentru a reuși, trebuie să alegi meeples de dinozauri și să îi plasezi în țarcuri care impun anumite restricții de plasare. La fiecare tură, unul dintre jucători aruncă zarul, ceea ce adaugă o constrângere suplimentară asupra țarcului în care ceilalți jucători pot plasa dinozaurii.
Draftosaurus este un joc de tip drafting rapid și lejer, în care nu transmiți cărți din mână după ce alegi una, ci alegi meeples de dinozauri direct din palma ta.
